It’s an absolute joy and a true gift to welcome Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale into the studio – a pioneer, an icon, and the Godmother of House Music.
We are truly blessed to have her with us, sharing her incredible legacy and treating us to some of her all-time favorite tracks. From playing legendary spaces like Studio 54, The Warehouse, and the Apollo Theater to shaping Detroit’s dance floors, Stacey’s journey is woven into the very fabric of music history.
As a DJ, producer, educator, and activist, she has broken barriers in Detroit’s male-dominated DJ scene and built an enduring influence that stretches across continents. Her career reflects decades of evolving sound, community building, and cultural resistance — forging space for queer Black women in electronic music and uplifting artists through her teaching, festival work, and inclusive vision.
And at the heart of it all is Stacey’s mission: to bring joy, positivity, and connection through music — a spirit that continues to inspire and move dancefloors worldwide.
We will also talk to the female owned movement 'G3', based in Berlin, committed to build soft spaces in hard places. Throughout the celebrations of art - and through art itself by creating productions for each event while including, pushing and connecting diverse local creatives.
On Septemeber 13th, G3 and the U.S. collective Alternative School will fuse Stacey’s original Detroit House with female faces of Berlins electronic scene by creating “Star Formation” at Coco Boule Berlin, as celebration of house music's past, present, and the powerful community it continues to inspire.
